Thank you for your interest in donating to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum.

Financial Support

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum is a federal agency, part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Federal tax dollars and income earned from admission fees and the New Deal Store provide only part of the funds necessary to operate our programs. We are also in a public-private partnership with the nonprofit Roosevelt Institute.

Private contributions in any amount are very welcome and very much needed. Private donations support education programs, exhibitions, public programs, the acquisition of archival and museum collections, and grants for researchers.

Donating Items to the Museum or Archives

The Museum collects and preserves materials related to the lives and careers of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and their friends, family, and associates. The Museum also acquires items that reflect political, social, military, diplomatic, and cultural life in America during the 1930s and 1940s. While we do not accept unsolicited donations, please Contact the Museum if you are interested in donating objects. Please have ready a description of the object(s), history of ownership and, if possible, photographs. Under no circumstances should you mail any object to the Museum (or leave any object at the Museum) without first contacting the staff.

The Archives maintains and provides public access to the historical papers, books, and audio-visual materials related to the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration and its historical era. Our collections also include thousands of historical materials relating to the life and career of Eleanor Roosevelt. While the Archives does not accept unsolicited donations, please Contact the Archives if you are interested in donating historical materials.
