During the Great Depression, people were losing their jobs and homes and often had little to eat. FDR had plans to get as much done to help them as soon as possible and in the first 100 days in office, he passed 16 major pieces of legislation (laws). The first 100 days of every new presidential administration has been measured by this standard ever since. Roosevelt built on that early success with careful planning that got us through the rest of the Great Depression and led to the Allied victory over Hitler and the Axis Powers in World War II.
